Netflix, in its inaugural year of broadcasting NFL games, delivered a holiday treat to its subscribers, securing the title for the most-streamed NFL game in U.S. history. An astounding 65 million viewers across the nation tuned in to watch two Christmas Day matchups, showcasing the platform’s growing influence in the sports broadcasting arena.
The Baltimore Ravens’ victory over the Houston Texans drew an average of 24.3 million viewers, while the Kansas City Chiefs’ triumph over the Pittsburgh Steelers captivated 24.1 million viewers. Beyoncé’s electrifying halftime performance during the Ravens vs. Texans game further boosted viewership, peaking at over 27 million.

Simultaneously occurring, the NBA, a conventional christmas Day sports staple, also enjoyed a resurgence in viewership. The league recorded its highest Christmas Day viewership in five years, averaging 5.25 million viewers per game across five captivating contests.
The Los angeles Lakers’ victory over the Golden State warriors emerged as the most-watched NBA regular season and Christmas game in five years, attracting an average of 7.76 million viewers and peaking at 8.32 million. The opening game, featuring the New York Knicks’ triumph over the San Antonio Spurs, garnered 4.91 million viewers, making it the most-watched Christmas Day opener in 13 years.viewership for the five NBA games surged by an impressive 84% compared to Christmas 2023, broadcast across Disney-owned platforms including ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, Disney+, and ESPN+. This surge in viewership provided a much-needed boost for the NBA, which had been grappling with declining ratings throughout the year.
