Ireen: Thanks for having me! It’s always a pleasure to talk about the sport I love.

Ireen: It’s absolutely crucial. When I was starting out, finding details about races, results, and upcoming events wasn’t as straightforward. nowadays, with platforms like these, young skaters can easily access information, follow their idols, and feel connected to the sport. And for dedicated fans, it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to stay up-to-date on every detail. This kind of accessibility fosters a deeper understanding and thankfulness for the sport.

Ireen: Believe in yourself, work hard, and always strive to improve. But most importantly,remember to enjoy the process! Skating should be a passion,a joy. Don’t be afraid of challenges, embrace them as opportunities to grow.

Ireen: Heerenveen is always a special venue, it’s practically a temple of speed skating! I expect to see some remarkable performances from the Dutch skaters, but there will be tough competition from othre nations as well. The all-round events will be notably exciting, as the Dutch have a strong tradition in that discipline.
moderator: Absolutely, and the rivalry between the Netherlands and Norway is always a highlight!
In regards to the Dutch dominance, what factors do you think contribute most to this success?
Ireen: It’s a combination of things.We have a strong skating culture in the Netherlands, with great facilities and support systems. And of course, we have generations of talented athletes who inspire the next generation.
