## Duarte Province Celebrates its Sporting Elite at Annual Awards Ceremony
The CODIA club was abuzz with excitement as the Association of Sports Writers of Duarte province hosted its annual awards ceremony, honoring the region’s top athletes and sporting figures. The event, held in front of a packed audience, paid tribute to the legacy of Don Rubén de Lara and the memory of Ruddy López Guillen.
dr. Edgar Peralta (Johnny), advisor to the Provincial Sports Writers Association, presented the prestigious IADIS College Cup and municipal mayorship awards to judokas Medickson del Orbe and Ana Smerly Rosa, recognizing their extraordinary achievements in 2024. [[3]]
The ceremony also saw ACRODEPRODU acknowledge outstanding contributions from various sporting disciplines. daniel Rodríguez, a standout athlete, was named Referee of the Year, while José Ramón Severino and Ramona Johanny Compres received accolades for their exceptional coaching in football.The Judo Association of Duarte province was celebrated as the most outstanding institution of the year, while the Guerrero de Los Rieles club earned recognition as the most distinguished club institution.
Leadership within the sporting community was also recognized, with Danilo Javier Jerez from basketball and Sabina Hidalgo from soccer receiving awards for their outstanding contributions.
Furthermore, the Ocalis Hiciano league from Castillo and the Angelitas del Valle league from Vista al Valle were honored for their excellence in their respective sports.
The ceremony extended its recognition to individuals who have substantially supported the growth of sports in Duarte province. Businessman Jasciel Hernández was recognized for his invaluable contributions, while Hanser Alberto of the Fe Malta Foundation was commended for his impactful work empowering Franco-Macorisan youth thru sports. mayor Alex Díaz Paulino was also honored for his unwavering support of athletic endeavors.
