It seems like their issues stemmed from a few on-track incidents,building up to that explosive moment in Abu Dhabi.
Frankly, I think some of the blame lies with the heightened media attention surrounding their clashes. Every little nudge, every overtake is analyzed under a microscope, sometimes creating a narrative that didn’t exist before.
Moderator: You bring up an interesting point. Social media certainly amplifies these situations, doesn’t it? Do you think the constant scrutiny from fans and media is contributing to the tension between drivers?
Damon: Absolutely. These drivers are under a constant spotlight. Every mistake, every gesture is dissected and debated online. It can be overwhelming, and it certainly doesn’t help when relationships are already strained.
But remember,we’re talking about highly competitive individuals.Both Max and George wont to win,and that competitive spirit can sometimes boil over.
Moderator: verstappen has publicly stated that they had a brief conversation after Abu Dhabi and hopes to move forward. do you think they can genuinely put this behind them?
Damon:
I sincerely hope so. They are both professionals, and they understand the bigger picture. F1 needs these two titans to be at their best, battling it out on track.
But it won’t be easy. They need to find a way to race hard but respectfully. Perhaps a bit of time away from the track during the winter break will help them clear the air.

Interesting that you bring up the winter break. Verstappen himself mentioned the importance of that downtime for all the drivers and teams. Do you think the break plays a crucial role in managing these intense rivalries?
Damon: Definitely. It’s essential for drivers and teams to step back, recharge, and mentally prepare for the new season. During the intense competition of a season, emotions run high, and things can be said in the heat of the moment.
The time away allows drivers to reflect, to process any lingering animosity, and to ultimately come back refreshed and focused on the task at hand.

Do you think we’ll see a more amicable relationship between verstappen and Russell in 2025?
Damon:
I’d like to think so. They are both mature drivers capable of putting the past behind them. their rivalry is good for the sport, pushing them both to their limits.
