Marigliano Gears Up for Ninth Annual Pasquale Bonavolontà Memorial Basketball Tournament
Get ready for an exciting weekend of youth basketball in Marigliano! the ninth annual “Memorial Pasquale Bonavolontà” tournament is set to take place on December 27th and 28th, bringing together talented young athletes from across the region and beyond.
This year’s tournament will feature two thrilling quadrangular competitions: one for female under-17 teams and another for male under-15 teams. Both events will be held at the ”Gaetano Napolitano” sports hall and the municipal tent, promising a vibrant atmosphere for players and spectators alike.
Adding to the prestige of the tournament are two renowned clubs from outside the region: San Raffaele Roma, a powerhouse in national female youth basketball, and Basket Borsi Ceva from the province of Cuneo. Ceva, led by coach Danilo Spedaliere, a Neapolitan who relocated to Piedmont a few years ago, made a strong impression in last year’s tournament. Completing the women’s lineup is Pallacanestro Casalnuovo, coached by Stefano scotto di Luzio.The men’s under-15 quadrangular promises equally fierce competition. Promobasket Marigliano will face off against Fortitudo Sant’Anastasia in the frist semi-final, while Mini and Basket Player will take on Olympia Pomigliano in the second. The women’s semi-finals will see New Cap marigliano battle Ceva, and San Raffaele go head-to-head with Casalnuovo.
As always, the “Memorial” enjoys the unwavering support of the Municipality of Marigliano and a dedicated group of Pasquale’s friends.The Napoli Club Marigliano, a steadfast supporter as the tournament’s inception, will once again have the honour of presenting the winner’s cup.

Bringing in powerhouse clubs like san Raffaele and Basket Borsi Ceva elevates the competition substantially.It’s fantastic experience for the local teams and a real testament to the tournament’s growth and prestige. I expect some intensely competitive matchups, especially in the women’s division.

Coach Rossi: San Raffaele is a well-oiled machine. They emphasize fundamentals, disciplined play, and have a knack for developing players who excel both individually and within a team structure. They’ll be a tough test for any team they face, including new Cap Marigliano and Casalnuovo.
You mentioned the local teams – new Cap Marigliano and Casalnuovo. How crucial are events like this for fostering local basketball talent?
