Sidney Govou: He’s undeniably exciting to watch. Reminds me a bit of myself in my younger days – fearless, direct, and with that explosive pace. You can see he’s a natural finisher and has a knack for creating something out of nothing. The way he’s slotted into Lyon’s attack alongside Mateta, Cherki, and Lacazette is impressive.

Sidney Govou: I wouldn’t call it a flash in the pan. The lad has real talent, there’s no doubt whatsoever about it. But the key for him now is consistency. He needs to keep his head down,keep working hard,and keep learning from the experienced players around him. Lyon is the perfect environment for him to develop.
There’s been some chatter about Fofana attracting interest from bigger clubs in England and Germany. Do you think a move away from Lyon is a possibility in the near future?
Sidney Govou: It’s natural for clubs to take notice when a young player is performing like fofana. But I think he’s smart enough to know that Lyon is the best place for him right now. He’s playing regularly, learning from a great coach, and has a chance to win trophies.
