Young Judokas Shine at Aveyron Dojo
This past Saturday, December 14th, the Aveyron dojo in Rodez hosted the departmental judo challenge, welcoming aspiring athletes from across the region. Judo Villefranche proudly sent a strong contingent of judokas to compete in the junior and junior chick categories.
The youngest participants, the chicks, embarked on their competitive journey with a focus on exploration and adaptation. Grouped in fours, they engaged in three bouts, each encounter providing valuable experience.The Villefranche chicks demonstrated remarkable resilience and dedication,tackling the challenges of competition head-on.
Impressive Results for the Chicks:
Céleste Caldéron and Adèle Sokambi-pradal secured top honors, claiming first place in their respective groups. Gabin Portal fought valiantly to earn a second-place finish, while Alma Bleux, Zélie Barthes, Talya Partak, Lowen Alet, Abel eripret-Dumas, and Naïa Dubosc all achieved commendable third-place rankings.
For the junior boys and girls, this event marked the first stage of the Aveyron championship, a three-part competition leading to a regional semi-final.
Junior Champions Emerge:
Célia Landes Massot and ambre Reimel dominated their divisions, securing first-place victories. Aliya El Fachati and Lison Delbes showcased their skills to earn second-place finishes.Loan Bargibant-Delbes fought hard to claim third place, while Félix Auguy and Joachim Eripret-Dumas both secured respectable fifth-place rankings. Gabriel Julien also demonstrated his prowess, finishing fifth, while Noah Debout-Alogues and Saint-Eachim gained valuable experience despite not placing.
In the junior category, the competition served as the Aveyron qualifying championships for the northern Occitanie zone. Célène Fernandez delivered a stellar performance, clinching first place and earning the title of Aveyron champion. Nolan Alet fought bravely, securing a second-place finish and the title of vice-champion of Aveyron.

Pierre Durant: Thank you! I’m incredibly proud of each and every one of our judokas. This event was a valuable learning experience for all, especially our youngest competitors in the chick group. They embraced the challenge with open arms, demonstrating notable resilience and a real thirst for knowledge.

Pierre Durant: Both Céleste and Adèle are incredibly dedicated athletes.They consistently put in the hard work and are always eager to learn and improve. Their natural talent is undeniable, but their commitment to training is what truly sets them apart.

Nolan Alet secured a well-deserved second-place finish, earning the title of vice-champion of Aveyron. How do you assess his performance?
Pierre Durant: Nolan fought bravely. He faced some tough opponents but remained focused and determined throughout the competition. He’s shown tremendous progress over the past few months, and I’m confident he’ll continue to excel.
These impressive results highlight the depth of talent within Judo Villefranche’s junior program. What would you say are the key factors contributing to such a prosperous youth program?
Pierre Durant: It’s a combination of factors. We have a dedicated coaching team committed to nurturing each athlete’s unique strengths and weaknesses. We also foster a supportive and encouraging environment where young judokas can learn from each other and grow together.
Looking ahead, what are your goals for the team in the upcoming regional semi-final and beyond?
Pierre Durant: Our goal is always to push our athletes to be their best, whether it’s on the mat or off. We aim to build their confidence,discipline,and sportsmanship. Whatever the outcome, we’ll continue to celebrate their dedication and hard work.
