Preuß’s resilience was evident as she pushed through a scratchy throat and a slight disadvantage on the final loop, ultimately finishing just 4.6 seconds behind Justine Braisaz-Bouchet of France, who incurred a shooting penalty.
“She has found the perfect shooting mindset,” remarked ARD expert Erik Lesser, highlighting Preuß’s ability to achieve top results even when not feeling her best. This consistency has been a hallmark of her season, with no finish lower than fifth in six races, including two third-place finishes and one victory.
Preuß’s impressive performance extended her led in the overall World Cup standings to 97 points over lou Jeanmonnot of France, who sits outside the top 30. She also strengthened her position in the sprint World Cup. Regardless of her result in the pursuit race, Preuß is guaranteed to wear the yellow leaderS jersey in Sunday’s mass start, and has already secured the red leader’s jersey for the home World Cup in Oberhof in early January.
The German women’s team showcased their strength in depth, with Selina Grotian achieving a career-best fifth place and vanessa Voigt securing sixth. Coach Sverre Olsbu Röiseland expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, noting their strong week of training in Hochfilzen.
