Five dedicated judoka from SC Dynamo Hoppegarten faced a rigorous test of their skills on December 18,2024,in Jänschwalde. The examination for the coveted first and second Dan grades demanded mastery of both competitive judo techniques and practical self-defense applications.
Having honed their abilities during two intensive Dan courses led by daniel Klenner and Martin Reißmann in November, the candidates were now tasked with demonstrating their proficiency in a demanding examination programme.
The results were impressive, showcasing the diverse strengths of the athletes. Lucas Molks achieved a remarkable second Dan, while Mika Vielitz earned his well-deserved first Dan. Notably, Ingo Höppner, at the age of 58, exemplified dedication and perseverance by successfully attaining his second Dan.Following a demanding day of assessments, the examination committee, comprised of martin Reißmann, Daniel Klenner, and Elke Nowack, commended all five candidates for their accomplishments. While acknowledging areas for further progress, the examiners praised the athletes’ diligent preparation and prosperous execution of the challenging tasks.

ingo: Absolutely. The examination itself was intense, encompassing both competitive judo techniques and practical self-defense applications. It truly tested our technical skill, physical endurance, and mental fortitude. We underwent two intensive Dan courses led by esteemed instructors, Daniel Klenner and Martin reißmann, in November. These courses were fundamental in honing our techniques and preparing us mentally for the challenge ahead.
And to achieve your Second dan at the age of 58 is truly inspiring.What motivated you to pursue this milestone at this stage in your life?
Ingo: Judo has always been a significant part of my life, a source of discipline, fitness, and personal growth. While my initial pursuit was driven by a love for the sport, this recent Dan grade was about proving to myself that age is no barrier to achieving goals. It served as a testament to perseverance and the belief that continual learning and improvement are possible at any age.
