orel Hershiser: Absolutely. The Dodgers have a strong history of developing international talent, and they’ve got a great pitching infrastructure in place. Plus, they’ve shown a willingness to invest in young pitchers.Look at Julio Urías, who blossomed into a bona fide ace under their guidance. Sasaki could thrive in that environment.
Moderator: There’s some talk that the Dodgers might not be the best financial match for Sasaki, given their relatively limited international bonus pool. How significant do you think financial incentives are for a player like Sasaki?
Orel Hershiser: I believe for Sasaki, it’s less about the immediate financial reward and more about playing for a winning organization that will give him the best platform to showcase his talent. The Dodgers are perennial contenders, and that’s undoubtedly appealing to a young player who wants to compete at the highest level.
Moderator: We certainly know Sasaki visited dodgerstadium and met with the team. What do you think factors into a player’s decision when choosing a new team?
Orel Hershiser: It’s a combination of things,really. The team’s culture, the coaching staff, the city itself – all those factors play a role.
But I believe the prospect to learn from experienced pitchers like Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler would be a major draw for Sasaki. imagine the mentorship he could receive from those guys – it would be invaluable to his development.
