The archers of Castelsarrasin made a strong showing at the recent competition hosted by the Bressols archery club. The archers achieved impressive results, with some female participants experiencing their first taste of competitive archery. These newcomers demonstrated a natural aptitude for the sport, and their ongoing training promises to further enhance their skills. All participants received a token of appreciation – a rose or a gift – from the welcoming and well-organized bressols club.
Looking ahead, the Castelsarrasin archery club is excited to announce two upcoming events. On January 18, 2025, they will host a departmental youth competition, followed by an official competition on February 1st and 2nd.
Sharpening Their Aim: A Conversation with archery Champion Marie Dubois
It’s with immense pleasure that I welcome Olympic archer, Marie Dubois, to the show today.Marie, thanks for joining us!
Marie: It’s my pleasure to be here.
Marie, let’s talk about the recent archery competition hosted by the Bressols Archery Club. The Castelsarrasin archers performed exceptionally well, especially considering some newcomers were experiencing their first taste of competitive archery. This warms my heart to see!
Marie: It’s wonderful, isn’t it? There’s nothing quite like that first competition to truly ignite the passion for archery. I remember my first one vividly – the jitters, the focus, the thrill of hitting the target. It’s a feeling that stays with you.
Definitely. And these newcomers showed a natural aptitude for the sport. What do you think are the key traits that make a successful archer, especially at the early stages?
Marie: Natural talent certainly helps, but it’s not everything. The most successful archers possess an unwavering focus, discipline, and a strong mental game. Archery is as much a mental sport as it is indeed physical. being able to control your breathing, calm your nerves, and visualize your shots is crucial, especially under pressure.
That’s insightful, Marie. Now, the Castelsarrasin Archery Club has two exciting events coming up – a departmental youth competition on January 18th and an official competition on February 1st and 2nd.What message would you give to young athletes who might be considering participating in these competitions?
Marie: Go for it! Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Competitions are a fantastic way to test your skills, learn from experienced archers, and meet other passionate individuals. Remember to enjoy the experience and celebrate your progress, nonetheless of the outcome. Archery is a journey, not just a destination.
I couldn’t agree more. Now, as an Olympic archer, you’ve witnessed firsthand the unbelievable commitment and dedication required to reach the highest level. What advice would you give to aspiring archers who dream of competing on the world stage?
Marie: The journey is long and demanding, but incredibly rewarding. Set clear goals, train consistently, and seek guidance from experienced coaches. Never give up on your dreams, even when faced with setbacks. and most importantly, never lose sight of the joy and passion that brought you to archery in the first place.
Thank you so much, Marie, for sharing your insights and inspiring words. We wish the Castelsarrasin archers the best of luck in their upcoming competitions.
