Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire to Host Olympic Flame Relay and Festivities on June 5, 2024

Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire will be celebrating Wednesday June 5 2024. This town located on the banks of the Loire, south of Nantes, will host the passing of the Olympic Flame.

And yes relay, as such, will last one hour tops, from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., this will only be the beginning of the festivities. In fact, the City revealed a rich program of entertainment for the whole day.

Testing sports at the Olympic Village

The arrival of the Flame at the René Massé stadium will be followed by the opening ceremony of the Olympic village. In this village, 14 sports will be discovered and tested, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.:

  • golf ;
  • rugby ;
  • judo ;
  • volley-ball ;
  • handball ;
  • football et foot-freestyle ;
  • fencing;
  • escalade ;
  • break dancing;
  • field hockey ;
  • Athletics.

At 11:30 a.m., the schoolchildren of San Sebastián and the Nantes artist Korsé will unveil their Olympic fresco. At 12 o’clock, several champions will make themselves available for discussions, photos and training sessions dedications.

Gentle gym workshops for seniors, concerts by students from the Music School, philately or even an exhibition entitled History, sport and citizenship will also be organized.

Demonstrations and shows

From 5:30 p.m. and until 8:30 p.m. place for the show. First with sports demonstrations:

  • hand chair with the 3SLHB;
  • fencing and armchair fencing with the Pôle Espoirs des Pays de Loire;
  • foot freestyle.

Finally, the day will end in music with the Live Band Project. DJ One Up, Official DJ of the breakdance events for the Paris 2024 Games, will host the evening with a drummer, a guitarist and a saxophonist, mixing soul, funk, 70’s rock and hip-hop.

Practical information :
Wednesday May 5, 2024, passage of the Olympic Flame. Access to the Olympic Village from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.: on foot, by bike (equipped bicycle parking lots will be available on the site / Bicloo station: Pont Léopold-Sédar-Senghor), by bus (lines C9 and 30 stop Saint- Sébastien), by TER (Gare des Pas Enchantés stop), by car (note: part of the René Massé stadium parking lot will be condemned).
