The best scorer was once again Jayson Tatum (25, 9/16, 10 rebounds, 9 assists), who in the first half was mainly involved in constant discussions with referee Tony Brothers. Derrick White (18, 7/17) converted another four threes, and as a team the Celtics sank a strong 19 of 43 triples (44 percent). Jaylen Brown (11, 4/9) remained unremarkable.

Cleveland tried to play the game quickly, especially in the first half. Although there wasn’t a single point in transition, the guests mostly looked for the first possible finish so as not to always come up against a well-organized Celtics defense. Boston also helped with 14 turnovers, and the Cavs used that to score 21 points.

Mobley reduced it again from the line to -9 three minutes before the end, but seven points from Jrue Holiday (13, 5/9) in a row and Horford’s sixth three-pointer made everything clear with a 10-2 run, after which Horford was substituted to a standing ovation.

The Celtics are in the Conference Finals for the third time in a row. The winner of the series between the New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers (status: 3-2) is waiting there. It is still unclear when the series will begin. If there is a Game 7 between the two teams or in the series between Denver and Minnesota, the Conference Finals will start on Wednesday night. However, if both series end after six games, Game 1 against the Knicks will take place on Sunday evening at 9:30 p.m. German time.
