These are the first sensational photos of the preparations for the fan festival at the Brandenburg Gate. And that makes your eyes go green! A huge artificial turf is currently being rolled out between the gate and the victory column.
The world’s longest fan mile is being built here for the 2024 European Football Championship. Football fans can watch the games live there, play and celebrate together in June and July.

The Straße des 17. Juni in Berlin will be completely closed for three months and buses will be rerouted. 24,000 square meters in front of the Brandenburg Gate and on part of the street will be equipped with artificial straws made of polypropylene.
Costs for the green lawn happiness: 1.2 million euros! The Sunday after next (May 26th) the lawn will be completely rolled out. The tracks that are laid out in front of the Brandenburg Gate are 40 meters long and 4.05 meters wide.

The fan mile will be open on all match days. Admission is usually from 2 p.m. It should be open until midnight – at least for Germany games, for games in Berlin (six European Championship games will take place in the Berlin Olympic Stadium) and for every game from the quarter-finals onwards. The games are broadcast on gigantic monitors. If there is no transmission, the mile opens as early as 8 a.m.
Free entry to the football festival
For security reasons, the entire fan festival will be fenced off and can only be accessed via controlled entrances. Admission is free. There will be numerous snack bars and drinks stands for your physical well-being. The organizers expect up to 130,000 spectators to attend the games.

Berlin Police Chief Barbara Slowik (58) announced on Wednesday: “We will see a very high police density in the hotspots on match days.” She did not want to give exact numbers yet. “There will certainly be several thousand colleagues around the relevant locations.”
Regarding possible terrorist attacks, Slowik said that there had been an “abstract high risk” that had existed for years. At the same time, she emphasized: “We currently have no indication of specific attack planning.”
There will also be a gigantic fan festival in Frankfurt am Main, even with a light show. In Leipzig, too, preparations for the football party are already in full swing.
The federal states are even re-regulating existing curfews especially for the European Football Championship: the night’s rest will be postponed!
