Ajax has agreed in principle with Italian trainer Francesco Farioli, his agent reported today to De Telegraaf. Ajax itself does not want to go that far towards NOS. “The media always gets ahead of things too quickly.”
The fact is that the club is in full negotiations with Farioli. The trainer of the French OGC Nice is still considered a top candidate for the Amsterdam team after the stalled negotiations with the Englishman Graham Potter.
Fifth in France
Farioli, who is a lot cheaper and more feasible than Potter, is currently fifth in the French league with Nice. Technical director Alex Kroes and football director Marijn Beuker are charmed by the 35-year-old talented and eager to learn trainer.
However, there are also doubts within Ajax. Farioli is very young for a trainer and he has not been active at the highest level for very long.
