Ex-Kitz winner and Sky expert Philipp Kohlschreiber talks about Dominic Thiem’s crisis and tells how he wanted to help the 2020 US Open winner – but without success or response!
The 2020 US Open winner continues to make the headlines – but away from the tennis court. As SPORT24 already reported, his brother and manager Moritz Thiem launched an all-round attack on the domestic media. Now Philipp Kohlschreiber, who is currently commentating on the Masters in Miami for Sky, a former Kitz winner, is speaking out about the matter.
Kohlschreiber: “Nothing came back”
Kohlschreiber explained that he had offered his help and had spoken to Moritz Thiem: “If you’re interested: I’ll come to Vienna, we can play tennis for a few days or a week. And if you feel like it at the end, you can ask me how I find the training, his topspin, his batting speed.” After all, Kohlschreiber is still playing a lot. “Nothing came back and everything is fine,” said the 40-year-old. Postscript: “The offer still stands,” he continued. But he doesn’t want to offer himself again.
Thiem plans to compete at the French Open
Meanwhile, Thiem published an intensive clay court plan on his website. In addition to Estoril (from Easter Monday) and Munich (from April 15th), where he receives a wildcard, the world number 90 would like to. also take part in the Masters 1000 tournaments in Monte Carlo (April 7th), Madrid (April 24th) and Rome (May 8th). After the appearance at the Foro Italico, Thiem will compete at the French Open in Paris.
The 30-year-old also announced that there will be insights behind the scenes on his YouTube channel. “Dominic Thiem’s Mehrleben Vlog” is advertised there. “I am Dominic Thiem. And for you I am the tennis professional. The sportsman. But am I just that? Or MORE?” it says, among other things.
