Brindisi-Foggia: against all adversity | Sports People

High-voltage derby for Brindisi against Foggia at the stadium Franco Fanuzzi, a fundamental stage on the path to salvation which offers vital points. The Brindisi sports facility returns to its evening dress for this postponement on Monday where four thousand spectators are expected.

In the last round the biancazzurri achieved a good draw at the home of league leaders Juve Stabia, while the rossoneri beat Monopoli in another intense derby won 3-2. The public for special occasions was therefore expected in the facility in via Benedetto Brin, in fact, within a few hours, the tickets available in the corner sold out. On the other hand, the Satanelli will not be able to count on the contribution of their supporters, as the away team has been forbidden to the Foggia players. Nothing new, I dare say “unfortunately”, as the tender immediately appeared among those reported as having a high risk profile. Evidently, in addition to the old rivalry that divides the two sets of fans, the episodes that occurred a few years ago at the end of the Italian Cup match between the two teams were decisive. A choice that nevertheless smacks of mockery, especially given the interest that this match would have generated with the presence of the Foggia fans; the stimulus in following matches that inevitably turn out to be a monologue in the stands is undoubtedly less. Among other things, the two teams and the two sets of fans have always provided valuable insights during their matches.

Consequently, the home Curva Sud, despite itself, responds presently to a soliloquy without any comparison. In any case, the state of form of the boys South Michele Stasi is quite considerable, going against the trend of the current position in the standings and the initial premises which were certainly not those of such a disappointing championship. Compacted centrally, they open the evening with a banner in memory of “Puppulino”, on the anniversary of his death, remembered on several occasions with various chants from the whole curve.

As always the fans are at good levels, their performance is characterized by the continuous waving of banners and flags which make the sector lively and colourful, together with the lighting of a couple of torches which always give their characteristic charm in the evening. Intense chants and good clapping, with some pauses after the goals from behind which leave room for chants of disapproval against the club, also shared by the rest of the stadium.

The team on the pitch certainly doesn’t reward them with a good performance, giving way to a much more concrete Foggia in front of goal. At the end of the match the team is called to report under the sector, from which more commitment is required than that shown to date. At the end of this evening the last thought can only be towards all those past challenges that saw the two sets of fans face off on the steps. Thinking about the past and what the ultras world was without restrictions and bans plays nostalgic tricks, finding oneself catapulted into a sad present made up of desolately closed sectors. To summarize the particularly difficult moment for the ultras movement, an old choreography created not by chance in a Brindisi-Foggia match in the 2002/2003 season can only come to mind: full sail against all adversity!
