VIDEO ⟩ Swiss “Davos” becomes the winner of the Spengler Cup for the 16th time

In the final, Davos defeated the Czech team “Dynamo” from Pardubice with 5:3 (1:0, 2:2, 2:1).

The home team took a 2-0 advantage with goals from Denis Rasmussen and Enzo Corvi, but the visitors fought back in 13 seconds at the end of the second period, with Tomas Hick and Robert Kousal scoring the majority of the goals.

Klaas Dahlbeks ended the third period with an accurate shot, putting the hosts in the lead with 3:2.

Rasmussen, scoring his second goal of the game, and Jesper Olofsson made it 5-2 in the last game, but the Czech team could only respond with one goal by Jan Mandat.

“Davos” defeated the Swedish team Gothenburg “Frolunda” 4:3 in the extra time in the semi-finals, while “Dynamo” beat the Canadian team 4:3.

Last year, the victory of the Spengler Cup was celebrated by the Swiss team “Ambri-Piotta”, which beat “Sparta” Prague 3:2 in the final in the penalty shootout.

The Spengler Cup is the oldest European club tournament. “Davos” and the Canadian national team have won the prestigious tournament 16 times each, while the Czech team Prague LTC, which ceased to exist in 1949, has lifted the cup seven times.

In 2013, the winner of this tournament was the Latvian Kaspars Daugavins, who at that time represented the Swiss team “Servette” of Geneva, and in 2011, in the last victory of the Davos club so far, he assisted the home team “Dinamo” of Riga in the final.
