Curacao shortstop and former Major League player, Andrelton Simmons, recently announced his retirement as an active baseball player.

Simmons, 34, made the announcement via an Instagram post from his agency, ISE Baseball.
Simmons was selected by Atlanta in the second round of the 2010 amateur draft and made his Major League debut in 2012, wearing the uniform of the Georgia State team.
It should be noted that in 10 years in the “Big Ten” he batted .263; at a rate of 1,169 hits, including 201 doubles, 23 triples and 70 home runs. That, in addition to 444 runs batted in, 501 runs scored, 72 stolen bases and an OPS of .678 in 1,226 games in his career.
He also played for the Los Angeles Angels, Minnesota Twins and Chicago Cubs. He made his last major league appearance with Chicago in July 2022.
He won Gold Gloves in 2013 and 2014 with Atlanta and 2017 and 2018 with the “Seraphim”.
