LeBron James Sparks Controversy with Claims of Potential NFL Career, Enraging Charles Barkley

Holder of an assurance worthy of the superstar he embodies, LeBron James can therefore seem from time to time a little too sure of himself in his words. Charles Barkley, for example, appears very upset in the face of a recurring speech by the King.

Given his accomplishments as a basketball player, he can a priori display a certain self-confidence. The prowess of LeBron James indeed speak for him and make him for many one of, if not the best NBA player of all time. However, the story could have turned out to be very different with one choice, since the current leader of the Lakers also excelled as a high school student… on the US football fields:

Charles Barkley gets annoyed with a “what-if” about LeBron

While he delighted his high school in St. Vincent-St. Mary’s on the floors, LeBron also delighted in a wide receiver role. I can’t stand hearing LeBron say he could have played in the NFL. He makes me so angry when I hear him say that! Granted, he played well in high school because he was bigger than any other player. But there is one thing that changes everything in the pros, it is that you are not stronger or faster than the others!

In other words, LeBron would not have displayed the same domination as in high school in the big leagues.

On the other hand, according to Chuck, some of LBJ’s current counterparts have qualities that would allow them to find their place there. Including one of the Chosen One’s ex-teammates:

On the other hand, 1m88-1m90 backs, guys like Russell Westbrook with a very robust physique, would make very good wide receivers or safeties. If Russ had gone there, he would have finished All-Pro as a safety or cornerback. (…) Now, let’s be honest: most NBA players are not tough enough to play US football, no disrespect to them.

In the end, the question doesn’t really need to be asked, since both LeBron and Westbrook opted for the orange ball and wrote history!

NBA legend, LeBron James, however, remains convinced that he could very well have performed in the NFL. Enough to enrage Charles Barkley, for whom the King would absolutely not have survived as a US footballer. Everyone will have their own opinion on the matter.
