These will have been very rich in emotions for fans of Plus belle la vie! Indeed, while the series bowed out last fall, she will finally return to service. The first episodes of this new season will air on TF1, from January 2024. The writers have been working for months to develop the continuation of the Marseille soap opera. And the actors are preparing to resume filming. Among them, Stéphane Hénon (Jean-Paul Boher) spoke to discuss the death of Michel Cordes, who played Roland Marci. We will explain everything to you !

Launched in 2004 on France 3, the series was a great success with the public. Moreover, the program already has over 18 seasons and 4,666 episodes! Upon learning of the end of Plus belle la vie, many fans expressed their disappointment. Fortunately, in the meantime, TF1 has decided to offer a new start to this fiction popular. Very good news for viewers, but also for the actors in the casting, like Sylvie Fleppor even Stéphane Hénon.

Unfortunately, Michel Cordes, who played Roland Marci since the beginning of the series, lost his life in May 2023. He was 77 years old when he died in his house, located in Hérault. Obviously, the actors who had the opportunity to know him in Plus belle la vie experienced this drama with deep sadness. On Instagram, Stéphane Hénon, who plays Boher in the series, wanted to talk about his memories with the actor.

“We met him, rubbed shoulders with him, and loved him with this obviousness generated by his generous and passionate personality, his infinite kindness, his vibrant outlook on the world. And his thunderous laugh. »

The latter considers it as an essential figure of this famous fiction. While filming has resumed, his memory remains engraved in the heart of Stéphane Hénon.

“He was, he is and forever will be Roland Marci, the unforgettable patriarch of the Mistral, the pillar of the series, the incarnation of the South that he loved so much,” the actor wrote on his Instagram account. »

Stéphane Hénon’s revelations about the character of Roland Marci

In the next season of Plus belle la vie, the public will be able to find most of the actors present in the previous episodes. Besides, the interpreter of Jean-Paul Boher expects the series to evoke the death of Michel Cordes, in one way or another.

“I think there’s going to be a tribute. It’s a bit of the emblem of Plus belle la vie because he had the accent. We liked each other a lot, but I didn’t work a lot with him. I was rather at the police station so it’s true that I met him backstage. But I was especially saddened by the way it was done. Afterwards, it’s his choice. That’s what he wanted to do. »

He also wanted to put the dots on the i, after the numerous rumors which have circulated recently. Indeed, some go so far as to claim the death of the actor who played Roland Marci would have a link with the cessation of Plus Belle la vie. According to Stéphane Hénon, this explanation makes no sense. And for good reason: he wanted to leave the fiction casting.

“I know he wanted to leave the show so I don’t think it’s because of that. There are other reasons, surely personal. It happened after the series, so people must have extrapolated things, but I don’t believe that. »

Indeed, the character played by Michel Cordes had even succumbed in the soap opera. And the actor seemed perfectly satisfied with this choice. He even actively participated in the filming of this sequence last year. According to Stéphane Hénon, the 77-year-old actor had expressed the wish to appear less regularly in the series.

“Michel was completely willing to leave. He calmed things down by saying that he wanted to film a lot less so they killed him in the series. He agreed and he played his death. »

The public will have to wait a few more months before finding their favorite series. However, we should also expect to see Plus Belle la vie continue without the character of Abdel Fedala. And for good reason: Marwan Berreni, who has played this role for years, is still nowhere to be found at the time of writing these lines. The screenwriters therefore had to deal with this absence.
