Summer is coming to an end and the new seasons are beginning in many sports. Keeping track of what is being shown where on TV or stream is almost a competition in itself. The really big (and expensive!) football rolls live on Sky or Dazn. There is a combination package for subscribers, the price of which has just been massively increased. Amazon is also involved in the Champions League, the fan either shows the courage to leave a gap or also pays for the next subscription.

But football is not everything. The German Ice Hockey League (DEL) runs on Magenta Sport, where the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) was also shown until recently. However, a new player on the market has now acquired the rights, the streaming service Dyn (pronounced: Your). The portal of Christian Seifert, the former boss of the German soccer league, and Axel Springer AG also shows the handball and volleyball leagues. You can join for as little as 12.50 euros a month!
Problem: The Euroleague in basketball remains Magenta, basketball fans who also want to follow the NBA also need Dazn or get the league pass for the best league in the world right away.

Which brings us to US sports: The NFL football league will be available on RTL for the first time this season with two to three games on Sunday, and an additional game can be streamed on RTL+ – for a fee, of course. Dazn also shows American football with the Red Zone conference and individual games, and of course there is also a league pass from the NFL. The NHL, the best ice hockey league in the world, will in turn be broadcast by Sky. Sport 1+, on the other hand, is the place to go for baseball fans – well, are you already spinning?
But it’s still going on: Tennis fans also need various subscriptions now, because the US Open will be streamed by Sportdeutschland.TV for the first time in 2023. Cost of the tournament ticket: a whopping 25 euros! Wimbledon was still on Sky, the Australian Open and French Open were and are still freely available on Eurosport. Although you can also pay for it if you want to see all the games via Discovery.

The list could be extended almost endlessly with Formula 1 (Sky), cycling (Eurosport 2), international football (Sky, Dazn, Sportdigital, RTL+) or, or, or… Anyone who can still see through this can be congratulated. One thing is clear: the sports fan is the biggest cash cow in the TV and streaming market. And it seems only a matter of time before the next provider enters the market.
However, all of this can also be viewed positively, because nowadays sports fans can see practically everything. All you need is the appropriate hardware, a little change and the willingness to completely isolate yourself socially. Let The Games Begin!
