Marketa Vondrousova has not played since winning the Wimbledon title in mid-July. It is in Montreal that she will resume competition.

The 24-year-old Czech was still affected by jet lag when she entered the Canadian Open draw on Friday, but she looked good.
Arriving in Montreal on Thursday, she was able to train in the morning and pick up the pace.
The 9th seed will face the Egyptian Mayar Sharif (31st) in the first round. If she wins, she will then face Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki who enjoys a first-round bye for her big comeback.
Expectations
Vondrousova does not hide that her victory at Wimbledon has just added a good amount of pressure on her shoulders.
“I feel the expectations are high so I try to focus on the court and have fun playing.”
Her London victory allowed her to move from 42nd to 10th in the world, so we understand better what she means in terms of expectations.
But we must not forget that a year earlier she missed Wimbledon due to wrist surgery. In the context, his return is impressive.
“I am grateful to have been able to come back from an injury and I feel good.”
Surprise
The fact remains that if no one expected to see her triumph at the end of the fortnight at Wimbledon, she might not have bet on her chances herself.
“Winning Wimbledon is great. I didn’t expect that, I wasn’t playing well on the grass before that,” she admits.
Even his record, which is now 29 wins and 10 losses this season, was not enough to inspire confidence.
“My team was surprised and I had two incredible weeks. But I started to believe it when I was leading 6-4 and 5-4 and I was on the service,” she said, which made everyone laugh.
