Recap: Exciting Results from the Penultimate Day of Badminton at the 2023 European Games

The penultimate day of badminton at the 2023 European Games ended a little while ago. In Krakow, Poland, the finals for the women’s doubles and men’s doubles gold and the semifinals of all the other tournaments were played today: let’s find out everything that happened.

In the women’s doubles final Gabriela Stoeva and Stefani Stoeva got the better of it. The two Bulgarians defeated the Dutch Debora Jille and Cheryl Seinen 21-7, 21-17 to take the gold. In the men’s doubles final, however, hanno esultato in Denmark Anders Skaarup Rasmussen and Kim Astrup, who prevailed against the British Ben Lane and Sean Vendy 21-15, 19-21, 21-19.

Moving on to the semi-finals of the other tournaments, must be mentioned immediately the victory of Viktor Axelsen in the men’s singles: The Dane played an excellent game against the Frenchman Toma Junior Popov and won by 21-17, 21-18. The number 1 in the world thus snatched the pass for the final, where the transalpine Christo Popov will challenge him tomorrow, emerged victorious today from the challenge against the Israeli Misha Zilberman with a score of 21-10, 21-14.

The final of the women’s singles will instead be between Carolina Marin and Mia Blichfeldt: in today’s two meetings, the Spaniard beat the British Kirsty Gilmour 21-13, 21-11, while the Danish beat the Swiss Jenjira Stadelmann 21-15, 21-16.

In the end, in mixed doubles the French Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue and the Danish Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Boeje took the ticket for the last act of the tournament. The former beat Britain’s Marcus Ellis/Lauren Smith 21-18, 14-21, 21-18; the latter, on the other hand, prevailed against the Dutch Robin Tabeling/Selena Pike 21-14, 21-13.

It is important to point out that all the losers of today’s semifinals won the bronze medal.
