Consider significant traffic restrictions during the Night Half Marathon

On July 29, the most ambitious sports event of this summer will take place in Jelgava – the Jelgava Night Half Marathon, gathering participants not only from Latvia, but also from abroad. During the marathon, residents should expect significant traffic restrictions in the city center. It will be forbidden to stop and stand on the route of the race track from 12 o’clock on July 28, but on Saturday, July 29, traffic will be temporarily closed in some streets of the center.

Traffic will be closed on July 29:

– from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. in the Post Island and parking lots on Pilssalas Street;

– from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Jānis Čakste boulevard in the section from Lielas iela to Elektrības iela;

– from 18.30 to 1 Pilssalas Street;

– from 8:30 p.m. to 1 Rīgas Street from Lielupe Bridge to Kalnciem Road;

– from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. on the competition track.

The exit road from the closed area in the vicinity of Uzvaras Street and Krišjāņa Barona Street is organized along Dobeles Street. The passing road in the vicinity of Driksa and Katoļu streets is organized along Raina street. The exit road from the vicinity of Zemgale prospect is organized along Jāņa street.

It should be emphasized that it is forbidden to stop and stand on the route of the competition track from 12 o’clock on July 28 to 1 o’clock on July 30.

The start of the Jelgava Night half-marathon will be on Jānis Čakste boulevard near the Mītava bridge. The route will lead along J. Čakste boulevard to Lielajai iela, along Lielo iela to Akadēmijas iela, along Akadēmīja iela to Uedas iela, along Uedas iela to J. Čakste boulevard, along J. Čakste boulevard to Raina iela, along Raina iela to Akadēmijas iela, along Akadēmīja iela and Zemgales prospect to Sudrabu Edžus iela (for half-marathon runners – up to Jāņas iela), along Sudrabu Edžus (for half-marathoners – along Jāņas) street to Pasta iela, along Pasta iela and Blaumaņa iela to Ausekļa iela, along Ausekļa iela to Uzvaras iela, along Uzvaras iela to t/c “Rosme” and back to Ausekļa iela, along it to J. Čakste boulevard, along J. Čakste boulevard to Lielajai iela, then across the Driksa bridge, through Jelgava Palace Park and along Pilssalas Street to the Post Island.

Parking lots for visitors:

– parking lot on Peldu street 2;

– the meadow in front of Jelgava Castle (Vecaja tje 1A);

– parking lot on Sporta Street 2C.

Residents are asked to familiarize themselves with the traffic organization scheme for the upcoming traffic restrictions on July 29.
