NFL Suspends Four Players for Betting Violations, Including Indefinite Suspensions for Three

The NFL on Thursday suspended four players for violating the American Football League’s betting policy, three of them for at least one full season for betting on games of this sport.

Isaiah Rodgers and Rashod Berry of the Indianapolis Colts and free agent Demetrius Taylor have been suspended indefinitely, and at least through the end of the 2023 season, for betting on league games in 2022.

In turn, Nicholas Petit-Frere of the Tennessee Titans was suspended for the team’s first six regular-season games in the 2023 season, which begins in September, for betting on non-NFL sports.

Rodgers, Berry and Taylor can apply for reinstatement at the end of next season.

However, the Colts waived Rodgers and Berry following the announcement of their indefinite suspensions.

“We have made the following roster moves as a result of a determination that these players violated the league’s wagering policy,” Colts general manager Chris Ballard said.

“As an organization, we will continue to educate our players, coaches and staff on current policies and the significant consequences that can occur with (rule) violations,” Ballard added in a statement.

The NFL’s wagering policy prohibits all persons associated with the league from participating in wagering at any club or facility.
