In an exciting start to the semifinals of the First Men’s Provincial Basketball Tournament, Pico FBC and Ferro de Pico have achieved valuable victories over All Boys and Belgrano, respectively. The matches were held in Santa Rosa, where Pico and Ferro got the early lead in the best-of-three series.
The match between Pico and All Boys was particularly close, ending with a narrow 89-86 victory for Pico. Tomás Pasetti emerged as the hero of the match, scoring a crucial three-pointer with just 7 seconds to go, breaking the tie at 86. Despite the attempt of “Coco” Zalabardo from All Boys to equalize the score, the final basket did not go in, thus consecrating Pico’s triumph. For his part, Ferro de Pico demonstrated indisputable dominance in his match against Belgrano, achieving an overwhelming 94 to 66. Ferro’s highlights were Juan Cognini with 16 points, and Juan Frigerio and Lucas Mohnen, both with 15. Elias Tellería, for Belgrano was the game’s top scorer with 20 points.
The next confrontation between Pico and All Boys will take place on Sunday at 8:00 p.m. in Angel Larrea Park. The All Boys, with home field advantage, need a win to force a third and final game, which, if necessary, will take place next Wednesday in Santa Rosa.
As for Ferro and Belgrano, they will play their second game on Friday at Colosito from Piquense. If a third game is necessary, it will be played on Sunday in the same stadium.
With these victories, Pico FBC and Ferro Carril Oeste have shown their strength in this semifinal phase of the Provincial Basketball Tournament. However, the possibility of a comeback remains open for All Boys and Belgrano in the next matches.
