Indonesian tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi who paired with Matwe Middelkoop (Netherlands) managed to qualify for the semifinals French Open 2023 of mixed doubles.
Aldila and Middelkoop successfully defeated the pair Fabrice Martin / Chan Hao-ching with a score of 7-5 and 6-2 at Roland Garros, Paris, France, Tuesday (6/6).
Aldila/Middelkoop were behind 1-4 in the first set from Martin/Hao-chin, but they were able to get up and level the score at 4-4.
After a 4-4 draw, the game was getting fiercer but Aldila/Middelkoop found their rhythm and managed to win 7-5 in the first set.
Aldila/Middelkoop’s game became more fluid in the second half. Even though they had lost their first point, the pair was able to shoot up to lock in victory with a score of 6-2.
Uniquely, Aldila will face her partner in the women’s doubles sector, Miyu Kato, in the mixed doubles semifinals. Kato, who partnered with Team Putz (Germany), made it to the semifinals after defeating Luisa Stefani/Rafael Matos 7(7)-6(5) and 6-2.
Previously, Aldila and Kato failed to advance to the women’s doubles quarter-finals due to disqualification on Sunday (4/6).
A disqualification sanction was given because Kato was deemed to have intentionally hit the ball towards the ball girl. Now, Aldila and Kato will face each other as opponents in the 2023 French Open semifinals.
