Actually, Henrichs could have been happy after RB Leipzig’s 2-0 win in the quarter-finals of the cup against Borussia Dortmund. But the later Wednesday evening was then thoroughly spoiled for the 26-year-old. Because under the hashtag “sad truth” on the video portal TikTok, Henrichs reported the worst racist insults against himself and his family.
“We live in a society where anyone can spread hate and racism online,” the 26-year-old wrote, sharing excerpts of the messages on social media in which he and family members are racially and derogatorily insulted.
The defender, whose father is from Germany and mother from Ghana, was also wished for injuries. RB was also addressed in the post. “Today we won 2-0 in the cup against Dortmund and now I’ll show you how my DMs work (personal messages; ed.) look after such a victory in the cup. Have fun,” Henrichs said in the video.
RB trained on Thursday morning. However, the club has announced a press release on the insults later on Thursday.
