Basket The quintets returning from the Green Group of the biancoblù have all won away from the opponents of the Rosso. Nikolic: «We’re good at team building and trusting each other»
Luca Pinotti, L. Spo.
Girone Verde beats Girone Rosso in Girone Giallo. And not only. The first day of the second phase saw the teams involved in the first phase in the Green group win on points, with a clear dominance in the “promotion” grouping where Cantù, Treviglio and Vanoli Cremona are involved.
Rolling start
Flying start for Cantù in the yellow group: the victory in Pistoia in fact allows S.Bernardo to catch up with Forlì at 6 points, but to place itself in front thanks to the better basket difference (+11 for Cantù, 0 for Forlì). But it was also an encouraging debut for the other two teams returning from the Green group: in addition to the success of Cantù in Pistoia, there was also the victory in Cento di Treviglio (first alone with 8 points) and the coup of Vanoli Cremona (who to 4) in Forlì.
Cantù, it must be said, had a difficult task. Pistoia has founded its fortunes on the home performance, immaculate until the recovery a few days ago against Cento. Difficulties overcome thanks to a good performance together, in an almost playoff match, as Stefan Nikolic underlined at the end, interviewed by Le-News.
«It was a very tough match – said the Serbian winger with an Italian background -, in which we showed that we can play well despite a lot of defensive contacts on their part. We were good at keeping our concentration high and filling our holes: in general we were better».
Was the key to defense? «Yes, when we were lacking in shooting clarity, we pushed and put an extra gear. We did “team building” and we trusted each other».
And the best performance of the “ex Green” teams, albeit less evidently, was also confirmed in the other groups of the second phase of A2. In fact, there were seven victories in all for the teams from the Green Group, compared to the six conquered by those from the Red Group.
The other differences
Since, however, it becomes more striking if we consider that in the first day he saw them away, immediately capable of overturning the home factor. Beyond the sensational 100% in the Yellow group, the “ex Reds” did better in the Blue group, with the only defeat at home to Fortitudo Bologna (from Turin, in extra time), new Green supremacy in the middle band of the White group (only Nardò defended the field factor, against Trapani).
The Reds did better in the Salvation group (3-1), where only Ravenna had to surrender, a home defeat by Juvi Cremona, dragged in the final by a gigantic Trevon Allen, author of 8 decisive points in the last 65 seconds.
