It was hard for a Institute accustomed in recent times to fighting on all fronts, to compete, to go out and play without commitment beyond defending the jersey and honoring a competition like the Basketball Champions League Americas. Without a chance to advance to the quarterfinals and at home, La Gloria defeated Peñarol from Uruguay 78-71.
The defeat against Flamengo (71-79) On Monday in Alta Córdoba he left the team led by Lucas Victoriano empty, with nothing to play for. The Sandrín still looked almost complete (all the tickets for the double day had been sold) in support of the Albirrojo that gave them so much joy in the last half. And the team responded by winning.
It was the first victory he achieved against Peñarol. They had lost to the Uruguayans 56-64 in Montevideo and 80-89 in Rio de Janeiro.
The match with the charrrúa, defined just at the closing, did not allow him to save energy for what is coming to the Institute, which is another definition, the Super 20 Cup in Buenos Aires.
This Saturday, starting at 9:30 p.m., the cast of Alta Córdoba will face Obras, which will be local to the Temple of Rock, in one of the semifinals of the tournament. La Gloria defends the title won in 2021 (beginning of the 2021/2022 season) with another dispute format. The other semifinal will be animated by Gimnasia de Comodoro Rivadavia and Oberá Tenis de Misiones.
The final will be on Sunday, February 12, at 8:30 p.m.

Instituto exposed its competitive spirit despite the fact that there was nothing at stake, more than honor. Victoriano’s team responded with a 10-0 lead in 2 minutes after a 5-0 start by Peñarol. The second team (the substitutes) La Gloria showed more intensity, based on the defensive work of Leandro Vildoza.
The Albirrojo found in the effectiveness of the three-point shot (5/10 in the fourth) the way to make a difference and took a 6 lead: 21-15, with 1’50 to play. The Uruguayans, playing in the paint, reduced 19-21 closing the first chapter.
Peñarol recovered several balls on the first line and running, escaped at 7: 30-23 in 3’30 of the second segment. Victoriano sent the initial five onto the field, and Gloria looked for Taya Gallizzi in the paint. The captain, once again, came to the rescue of his team, scoring 6 points in a row to shrink to 29-32 in 3’40.
Instituto came to tie, at 37, but the visit defined the last one and went to half-time winning 39-37.
He opened the third period with an 8-1 Instituto to take over the score. And Gloria was released, led by “Chuzito” González on offense, achieved a maximum of 9:52-43, with 4’10 to play in the fourth. But between the lack of consistency of Albirrojo and the tranquility of Peñarol, with the classification assured, there were no great advantages (57-51).
The Alta Córdoba team stretched the difference to 12: 68-61 in 4 minutes, which seemed to lead to victory. But he scored a point in three minutes, and Peñarol cut it to a minimum, 68-69 with 2’30 to play.
But the Institute responded correctly. Even missing some free throws, “Chuzito” González took charge of the attack, and Gloria went up 76-71 with 47 seconds remaining to ensure the victory of the farewell.
