The Spring Festival celebrations held from January 14 to February 5 will include game broadcasts, a new NBA Spring Festival promotional video, NBA Cares Action and a series of online fan activities.
The live broadcast of the NBA New Year’s Eve game will kick off on January 14. The Minnesota Timberwolves host the Phoenix Suns. As of January 9, 25 teams have confirmed to participate in the New Year celebration activities, and will celebrate the Spring Festival through different methods such as on-site celebrations, local community activities, and digital social media content.
In 2012, the NBA held its first Chinese New Year celebration. As the Chinese New Year celebrations come to their twelfth year, NBA China launched a Spring Festival promotional film “New Year’s Eve” on the 9th. In this promotional film, four children from Tengchong City, Yunnan Province brought a “Spring Festival Basketball Art Show” to the villagers.
As part of the NBA Cares campaign during the Lunar New Year, NBA China will hold basketball training camps, community basketball games and events in Daping Township, Malipo County, Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, Liancheng County, Longyan City, Fujian Province, and Hong’an County, Huanggang City, Hubei Province. Welcoming the Spring Festival Country Basketball Carnival and other activities.
In addition, the NBA will join hands with China Mobile Migu to donate and build public welfare basketball courts in Heilongjiang, Fujian, Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangxi and other places to promote the development of basketball culture.
