Former NFL running back Peyton Hillis is no longer on a ventilator and is “on the road to recovery,” his wife, singer and actress Angela Cole announced Wednesday night.
Hillis was in critical condition in hospital after saving her children from drowning in the ocean off Pensacola, Florida earlier this month.
” A hero. So proud of this man and so incredibly grateful for the family and this amazing hospital,” Cole wrote in the caption of a video posted to Instagram. “Peyton is no longer on a ventilator and is on the road to recovery. Please keep praying as he still has a long way to go, but thank you for all your prayers, love and support so far. It really makes all the difference. Today was a good day. »
Hillis enjoyed an impressive career with the University of Arkansas from 2004 to 2007 collecting 2,157 yards with 23 touchdowns. He was then drafted in the 7th round by the Denver Broncos in 2008.
Hills played 7 seasons with the Broncos, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants. He distinguished himself with the Browns in 2010 by getting 1,654 yards with 13 touchdowns. He then found himself on the cover of the 2012 edition of the game Madden NFL.
