More than thirty San Silvestres hn flooded the streets of dozens of towns in Gipuzkoa this Saturday. The traditional New Year’s Eve races have returned with strength and joy after the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. The most numerous, as is normal, has been the one held in San Sebastián. It could be said that together with that of Beasain they are the most outstanding in the territory. But they will not be the only ones. Salaverría repeats and Villasante makes his debut in the race

Pablo Salaverría and Sara Villasante, the great favourites, have won the San Silvestre San Sebastian, a race that started at 2:00 p.m. The two athletes from San Sebastián have easily prevailed in Easo, especially in the case of the winner in this 2022 also of, among others, the race of the 3 beaches of the Gipuzkoan capital.

Salaverría, who already won the last edition, has completed the 7.8 kilometers in a time of 23:02, leading Frenchman Pierre Urruty by nine seconds, a regular in popular races in the territory. Yassine Bih was third with 23:21.

If there is a special San Silvestre in Gipuzkoa, that is, without a doubt, the one in Beasain. The veteran race returns after two years of hiatus with a participation that has exceeded 300 athletes. Among them have been the marathon runner Iraitz Arrospide and a good number of top-level long-distance runners. The races will be run in stages, from 7 to 15 years old. With the arrival of 12:00 noon, the contestants of the Sal Silvestre for adults organized by Beti Bizi will depart. The first fifteen runners have a prize: 1,200 euros for the first classified, 900 for the second and 600 for the third.

24 years of solidarity career

The public schools Samaniego and Orixe de Tolosa have organized the solidarity race for the twenty-fourth year. For the current San Silvestre race, 1,000 numbers had been put up for sale, of which one hundred were for cadets. Last year at the last moment the race was suspended. 260 participants and a great atmosphere

The San Silvestre de Orio has had a total of 260 participants. The race was held with a great atmosphere in the streets. The winners have been Aitor Etxeberria from Igeldo and Ainhoa ​​Murua from Zarauz, reports Antxon Etxeberria.
