TENNIS: Switzerland’s Manon Dubois (Pontarlier) and Benjamin Nourry (Gueugnon) win the Le Creusot autumn tournament

The two finals were particularly high this Saturday afternoon.

The time to participate in the awards ceremony and Benjamin Nourru, from the Gueugnon club, took the direction of Longvic, near Dijon, to return this Saturday evening, to the quarter-finals in the men’s tournament.
A few hours after winning the autumn tournament organized by the Tennis Club of Le Creusot Benjamin Nourry had therefore left to aim for the pass of three in two weekends, since just before Le Creusot he won the Beaune tournament.
This second-year Master CAPEPS student who aspires to become a PE teacher, beat Nicolas Nancray, who came from Nancray in the Doubs department. By winning 6/3 and 6/4, Benjamin Nourry confirmed his superiority as much as his form, in a season where he had the good fortune to win the Chalon tournament at -4/6.

In the women’s tournament, it was a Swiss, Manon Dubois who won. Swiss that she has Swiss nationality and that she works in Switzerland in Le Loc. “I work in the bakery in the morning and in the afternoon I train and I play,” says the friendly member of the Pontarlier club. “I get up at 4 a.m. and start work at 5 a.m.,” she says.
In the final at Le Creusot she beat Tatiana Bonnarel, from the Mâcon club in two sets 6/3 and 6/3.
During the reception which followed the finals, Laurence Galezot, the president of the Tennis Club of Le Creusot was pleased with the success achieved by the Tournament which henceforth will therefore be more of an autumn tournament than a winter tournament. She praised the commitment of all the volunteers who contributed to the success of the tournament. She also regretted the absence of a representative of the municipality of Le Creusot, “because we had things to tell him”. He could have noticed that as soon as the meetings were over, the lighting in the covered courtyards was turned off for the sake of economy. Note that if there were no elected officials at the reception, Moumen Achou, Arnaud Deleplanque and Sylvestre Coniau had passed earlier in the afternoon.
Valérie Roussel, the President of the Saône-et-Loire Committee also regretted the absence of an elected representative from Le Creusot, hoping that the project concerning the club will move forward, “because it would be a fair reward!”
This after saying that the Creusot tournament is a competition that counts in Saône-et-Loire. “It’s an unmissable meeting,” she judged, thanking Laurence Gallezot for her commitment.
Eric Mucci, the referee, welcomed the perfect performance of the tournament, with this year a women’s table, which had not been the case in 2021. He also explained the interest of scheduling the finals on Saturday so as not to be in competition with other tournaments, which obviously is a concern for the players who are involved.
