Nets tied with NBA top 75 teammate in blockbuster trade offer

It wasn’t long before the NBA season went into trade whisper mode. It was a quiet start to the season, but now, after around three weeks, the trade rumor season is already in full swing. That all changed again with recent drama involving the Brooklyn Nets. Transaction rumors went into overdrive in early November after Kyrie Irving was suspended for refusing to apologize for sharing a video containing anti-Semitic rhetoric. Now new trade rumors about Kevin Durant are coming out every day. However, Durant isn’t the only superstar rumored to potentially be on the trading bloc. Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis could also be available, according to rumors Bill Simmons is hearing.

“There’s some rumours, just some buzz, that AD might be available.” Simmons said Monday on his podcast. “That’s a Plan B because the Westbrook act or what they can get for Westbrook, if you want to give future assets, maybe that doesn’t even make sense for the Lakers.”

With both Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis being names their current teams could potentially buy, they could perhaps be traded for each other, according to a recent article Bleacher report. Grant Hughes shared in a column four potential destinations Davis could be sent to if the Lakers actually attempt to trade their second superstar. On the list was a proposal that saw Durant go to Hollywood in exchange for AD.

Los Angeles Lakers receive: Kevin Durant

Get Brooklyn Nets: Anthony Davis and an unprotected pick for the 2029 first round

After Durant had a historically high asking price this offseason, maybe this season is up against the wall with the Durant and Irving experiment in Brooklyn and it might be time to move on, and maybe they’re open to less. One player who might have a slight comp is Anthony Davis.

After Anthony Davis’ injuries in recent years, it’s hard to see this as a deal that the Nets will get enough quid pro quo in exchange for Durant. Sure, he’s still a solid player on both sides of the court, but Durant remains a huge loss to Brooklyn. Especially with the year he has this year despite the loss record. A player and a draft pick from Los Angeles don’t seem to be enough either. It feels criminal that LeBron James would be matched with Kevin Durant after swapping for such a small trade, and it doesn’t seem like a deal that can be struck whether or not Simmons’ account of Davis availability is true.
