Special entry for Kenny Liveze, deprived of coaching at the World Championships

For his debut in the Senior World Championships, this Tuesday in Tashkent, Kenny Liveze (20) did not fail. Junior world champion last August, the French holder of -100 kg won ahead of Adnan Khankan, who competes under the “refugee” banner. After 3’15, Liveze sent one of his favorite moves (sumi gaeshi lateral, projection technique) who ipponized his opponent in this first round.

A successful start in a particular context since Kenny Liveze did not have his regular coach on the chair, Daniel Fernandes. Indeed, the officials felt that the Frenchman’s judogi had sleeves that were too short. In fact, he was provided with one of regulation but with the consequence of not being able to benefit from a trainer on the chair, for the duration of the competition. Fernandes nevertheless had the right to be in the call room with him anyway, just before getting on the tatami

In the second round (to follow on L’Équipe live)Kenny Liveze will be opposed to the Turkish Mert Sismanlar (22), who had beaten him at the European Under-23 Championships in 2021, in the quarter-finals.
