NEW YORK (AP) — Jalen Brunson scored 17 points in his first game at Madison Square Garden, while Immanuel Quickley bounced back from a poor start to the season by scoring 20 points, and the New York Knicks crushed the Friday 130-106 to the Detroit Pistons.
It was New York’s first win of the fledgling season.
RJ Barrett, who also struggled with his shooting in the season opener — an overtime loss to Memphis — redeemed himself with 18 points.
Obi Toppin had 16 points, Julius Randle added 15 and there was no chance for another tense ending to this matchup, as the Knicks took control late in the first quarter.
Barrett was 3-for-18 on Wednesday and missed all six of his 3-point attempts. Quickley came off the bench and got no points, missing all six of his shots.
Saddiq Bey had 26 points for the Pistons, who beat Orlando in their first game.
