Mexican Grand Prix

The Asturian saw how Alpine’s umpteenth failure left him out of the race in Mexico six laps from the end

Fernando Alonso’s gesture after leaving the Hermanos Rodríguez shortly after finishing said it all. He threw a fist at an enemy not present, arms crossed against the tires… he was noticeably disappointed.

«In the middle of the race more or less I was comfortable; the truth is that both in Austin and here he was having the best races of the year. I was like 30 seconds ahead of the compi and the McLarens, and in the end I lost a cylinder, ”explained the Asturian about what happened, before gloating over the bad luck that follows him. «I wanted to stop a long time ago, but the team wanted to see if there was a Safety Car or something and with a miracle we stayed in the points, so… well, again only car 14, as always, and the truth is that very disappointed,” he admitted, before pointing out what is a reality for everyone: he can’t wait to get out of Alpine.

“It was very good until the engine stopped again, so… happy with the more or less personal performance, with how the race went, much better than yesterday, a good pace today, but… there are only two left”, he snapped.

Carlos Sainz: «Our worst weekend»

Carlos Sainz gave thanks for finishing the Mexican Grand Prix, because it was very difficult for him from the start. The performance problems due to the conditions of the track weighed him down too much and prevented him from fighting for what he now opts for, which are podiums.

Verstappen breaks another record and Alpine, the illusions

“Unfortunately it is the weekend in which we have gone the worst by far. We knew the compromises we had to make with the car for this type of altitude and circuit. We knew that we have lost a lot, a lot of performance compared to the other races », he explained. «A pity because for a ‘weekend’ that I am comfortable with the car, I am attacking…. But unfortunately there was not much rhythm. At least I have been able to complete the race, learn two races without running and that at least you could learn and have a good race », he recounted, before thinking about how they are going to study this appointment. “We don’t know how much the others have had to suffer, but we know that we have lost a lot here,” he said about it.
