$1.9 million for tennis and pickleball courts in Sept-Îles

The project to build four tennis courts and four pickleball courts, or light tennis courts, at Bruno-Pauletto Park in Sept-Îles, will go ahead.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MAMH) approved the request for a $1.9 million loan from the City of Sept-Îles for this project.

Bruno-Pauletto Park is located behind Jean-du-Nord high school.

The work will begin before the end of 2022 and will be completed in 2023, explains the director general of the City of Sept-Îles, Patrick Gwilliam.

We will start with the excavation and the backfill to have a good compaction. Next year, we will do the paving, the fences, the lines, things like thathe said.

During the Sept-Îles municipal council meeting on June 27, the City decided that the company Les Locations de l’Anse de Sept-Îles would be the company that would build these eight tennis and pickleball courts.

More and more pickleball enthusiasts

Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of tennis, table tennis and badminton. The ball is propelled across a net using plastic bats. The sport is experiencing great growth in Canada.
