After little more than two weeks indisposed, Anthony Rizzo will be activated on the New York Yankees roster this Sunday, September 18 for the last game of the series against the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field, joining the final stretch of the 2022 season of the Major League Baseball (MLB).
Aroldis Chapman will meet the Yankees in Milwaukee, plan is to activate him Friday per Aaron Boone.

Rizzo began experiencing migraines after undergoing an epidural injection to treat lower back pain. His condition improved markedly after a blood patch was applied on September 9.
“I’m optimistic that back-wise, he’s in a very good place,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said.
The Yankees first baseman had a full day of practice on Sept. 16, including an at-bat hitting session against Scott Effross. A day later he returned to batting practice in the cage preparing for his return.
Aaron Boone said that Anthony Rizzo will be one of the hitters during Scott Effross’ live batting practice Friday in Milwaukee. If all goes well, Rizzo could be activated for Sunday’s game against the #Brewers or for the start of the #Yankees next home stand. https://t.co/TRVzh7hKBN

Anthony Rizzo is one of the most important players on the Yankees roster because of the position he occupies and the profile of a left-handed hitter who balances the lineup. Venezuelan Marwin González had been taking his place during his absence.
So far this season, Rizzo is batting .225, second in home runs (30) and RBI (71) for the Yankees, in both categories behind All-Star Aaron Judge.
