Timo Werner leave Chelsea to return to RB Leipzig this summer. Werner admitted that he had to leave because he was too hot on the bench.
The Germany international striker was signed by Chelsea while still being managed by Frank Lampard in the summer of two years ago. Tuchel then took over as manager of the Blues since January 2021.
After Chelsea coached by Tuchel, Werner successfully won medals for the Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Cup. Even so, Werner is less sharp after only packing 14 goals and 15 assists in a total of 61 appearances in all competitions.

The 26-year-old striker has only played for Tuchel for 4,138 minutes or an average of only 63.6 minutes per appearance. Werner believes Tuchel’s playing scheme has made it difficult for him to get the opportunity to play so he doesn’t enjoy his football.
“For me, the fun of playing football is at the forefront,” Werner told the podcast Just lupswhich is quoted Sport1. “Of course, I had success at Chelsea, but the fun is a bit lost because I’m not playing regularly anymore.”
“I don’t think the coach’s game system suits me. That’s why I believe that I need to take a new step. I’m at an age where I want to play as much as possible.”
“I strongly attribute my huge success to Chelsea, the biggest success of my career. Chelsea will always be a special club for me. I will also continue to be in contact with many players there,” he added.
Timo Werner marked his second debut with RB Leipzig by scoring one goal in a 2-2 draw against Cologne. Werner will try to add another goal when The Red Bulls come to Union Berlin on Saturday (20/8).
