Laia Palau already has her first contract as sporting director of Spar Girona since taking over from Pere Puig on July 26. This is the base-escort Nora Galve (2001), a player who, in the words of Palau, “has been through a lot despite her youth”. The truth is that the hospital player was a very early debutant in the Women’s League, where she made her debut with Sant Adrià in the 18/19 season.
Since then, hers has been a “very solid career in LF Challenge and Women’s League 2”, said Laia Palau, who hopes that the 21-year-old will bring “freshness and a desire to get her head out” to the team. Not only during matches, but also in training, where the former player is sure that “she will come with the illusion of the first times”.
For now, however, we will have to wait to see Galve on the court, as he is recovering from an injury. In fact, there are three knee operations to which he has had to undergo: A sprain of the right cruciate ligament and, on the left, ruptures of the lateral ligament and the cruciate ligament. “We wish him a speedy recovery”, said Palau, confident that the new signing “will soon be able to join full dynamic”. “For sure it will help us a lot”, he added.
The hospital played last season in LF Challenge, with Lima Horta from Barcelona. There, he recorded figures of 4 points, 1.1 assists and 1.4 rebounds in 15.1 minutes per game.
Eleven names confirmed
After this addition, the new coach Bernat Canut already has eleven players confirmed for the 2022/2023 season. They follow Laia Flores, Magali Mendy, Binta Drammeh, Rebekah Gardner, María Araújo and Giedre Labuckiene; which have been joined, during the summer, by six new colleagues, Laura Cornelius, Irati Etxarri, Marianna Tolo, Faustine Parra and Nora Galve.
