The City Council of the capital will control annually with an external company the conditions of the concession to Atlético for 75 years

The City Council of the capital will annually control, via an external company, compliance with the conditions of the direct concession to the Atletico Madrid during the 75 years foreseen in the construction of its new sports city, with its compensation for the Public Administration.

It has been announced by the delegate of Works and Equipment, Paloma Garcia Romeroin the Urban Development Commission, where the emphasis has been on “administration control” throughout the 75 years of this direct concession, with annual control through an external company.

Faced with the proposal for a canon, raised by the Mixed Group, García Romero believes that it does not fit because the City Council already receives from the sports club the amounts of two plots and the exit to the M-40, actions in which Atlético “will invest more than 240 million euros”.

The concession will allow the club to build a stadium for between 6,000 and 8,000 spectators in the Olympic Ring area and will pay for the public sports facilities that will be built on two neighboring plots.

Three plots will be assigned by the club of football to a sports city, which will include that stadium with a capacity for between 6,000 and 8,000 spectators. “For the benefit of the city”, the other two plots, also for sports use, will be used for soccer fields and paddle and tennis courts. They will be “managed by the City Council and paid for by Atlético with an investment of more than 200 million euros in five plots,” announced the councilor, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeidain the last plenary session of the State of the City.

Another of the improvements for the neighborhood of Las Rejas, in San Blas-Canillejaswill be the construction of two exit accesses, to the M-40 and an addition to the service road, both “at the expense of Atlético de Madrid”.

THE DIFFERENT PLOTS

The performance planned by Atlético de Madrid in the three plots covered by the concession, the construction of six football pitches in one of them (DS-03) will be the headquarters of one of the high-performance facilities for training and complete activity of the first team, the subsidiary and the club’s two best youth teams.

Plot DS-04 will host a more diverse set of activities with a level that is more open to use by citizens, combining different uses.

In this sense, a mini-stadium with capacity for 6,000 spectators, 25 paddle tennis courts, a climbing wall, a space for teaching and practicing surfing and an area for practicing skating and jumping, among others, will be built.

The central part of the track will house an 11-a-side football pitch that can be divided into two 7-a-side football pitches with stands for the public. Likewise, an additional 11-a-side soccer field, another 7-a-side soccer field and a 110-meter indoor athletics track and jumping pit will be built.
