Less than a year after his political withdrawal following a relapse of illegal drug consumption, the adviser responsible for youth issues at ITUM and head coach of the badminton club Les Nomades has once again become a model. Dave Vollant even received the medal of the National Assembly of Quebec on Wednesday.

He went through a tough time last year when he was wrestling custody of his children in court. As in 2011-2012, he fell into depression and drug use. A rehab helped him in his reflection and his journey.

The former president of the Inter-Band Games in Uasnat mak Mani-utenam and founder of the badminton club believes his personal experiences help him understand social issues in his community. Today, he can guide young people without judging.

With the Uashat mak Mani-utenam Youth Secretariat, Dave Vollant is relaunching the “My First Chance” program, which offers an approach to young Innu dropouts. The instigator of the project Virginie Michel passes the torch with confidence, she will continue to provide her expertise as a mother and educator.
