Individual and collective sports, friendly matches or qualifying tournaments, tests of precision, strength, speed…

May Sport is back in style this year to bring together the whole sports family and is divided into 39 events, scheduled over 7 weeks (departmental and regional tournaments, initiations and demonstrations) in around thirty different disciplines: football, rugby, handball, basketball , tennis, fencing, karate, judo, archery, hockey, aikido, chess, and many more.

Sporting May is the celebration of sport for all! As part of the “Inclusion of disability through sport” program, led by the CCAS, the sports department of La Garde and the CAF du Var, the public is invited to the Let’s play our differences actions on Saturday May 20 during the Multi-Rally senior sports. And, on May 7, in partnership with Handball Gardéen and the AIDERA VAR association, Hand Adapté shared a session with members of the club with people with developmental disabilities (children and adults).

MULTISPORT RALLIES

Wednesday, May 18, place for budding champions! From 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Intergenerational Discovery Rally will bring together children aged 3 to 5, their parents and grandparents around many sporting activities.

From 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., young athletes aged 6 to 10 will familiarize themselves with the competition during the Junior Rally on the various workshops set up on the lawn of the Guy Môquet complex (basketball, football, athletics, etc.). Also not to be missed, Friday May 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the senior multi-sport rally which will bring together the over 55s!

This year, as part of “Let’s play our differences”, people with disabilities can join a team. At the same time, all the participants will face the Boccia team of the APF France handicap in a workshop.

Boccia is a sports discipline registered in the Paralympic Games which is open to all. Leather ball game, similar to petanque, it is played indoors, on a ground with a marking on the ground, individually or in teams.

THE GUARD ON ICE

After the return of ice sports to the La Garde ice rink, since its reopening in October 2021, these disciplines are in the spotlight of this sports May 2022 with several hockey tournaments on the program: Veterans (Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May from 8 a.m.) and leisure adults (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June from 8 a.m.). Not forgetting the Silver Skates end-of-season gala in the presence of Tomas-Llorenç Guarino Sabaté, double Spanish champion (Sunday June 18 at 8 p.m.).

And so that everyone can enjoy the party, the City and its sports department invite you to meet on Saturday May 14 from 2 p.m. for La Garde on Ice!

Want to discover the joys of skiing? The Silver Skates and HCAT Les Boucaniers ice hockey clubs invite you to initiations and demonstrations.

Want to have fun and skate to music? Let’s go for a big frosty evening from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. with DJ and sound and light entertainment!

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS

AT THE POINT OF THE SWORD

The AJS fencing La Garde is organizing its traditional end-of-season meeting, a big sports festival that will bring together athletes from clubs from all over the region.}

Highly anticipated, this fun competition in the form of a relay was enriched 3 years ago with a new event, the Cyrano. Sword duel, one-touch combat, as fast as it is exhilarating!

ECHEC ET MAT

Since 1999, the International Olympic Committee has recognized chess as a sport in its own right, in the mind games category.

Their particularity? Be an inclusive sport from all points of view: you don’t necessarily play with people of your own age, the games are mixed, open to all audiences without distinction and accessible to people with disabilities.

Among the 3 types of existing games, it is a “blitz” tournament, with “flash” games of 5 minutes, that the association La Tour takes Guard will introduce.

THE ART OF BOW

Like Ikebana (floral art) or Kabuki (the art of theatre), Kyûdô or the way of the bow, is considered an art in Japan. This discipline comes from warrior archery. The perfect shot will not only be precise, but imbued with the aesthetics of the gesture harmonized with the breath and the aesthetics of the balanced posture.

Specific to this sport, enketi shooting is a 60-meter shot that AJS Kyudo La Garde, the oldest club in France, is the only one to offer in the deep south.
