In the second leg of the quarter-finals in Barcelona, Eintracht Frankfurt was able to count on tens of thousands of fans. West Ham United are now waiting in the semi-finals. The English announce drastic action to prevent another Frankfurt fan invasion.
In Barcelona, the supporters of Eintracht Frankfurt made the Camp Nou their stadium. For the Europa League semi-finals at West Ham United, however, the Bundesliga club now only gets a contingent of 3,000 tickets. The Hessians announced this before the start of sales on Wednesday. There was a clear announcement from the English, who absolutely want to prevent a situation like that in the game at FC Barcelona.
In the quarter-final second leg (3-2) against the Catalans, over 25,000 Eintracht supporters came to the stadium, although the club officially received just under 5,000 tickets. Those responsible at FC Barcelona then spoke of a “shame” and announced that they only wanted to sell personalized tickets in the future.
“I don’t want to give any secrets away, but our fans are very creative. Every effort will be made to get a significant ticket contingent. You can be 100 percent sure of that,” Eintracht spokesman Axel Hellmann recently said on the TV station “BILD”.

For the first leg in London’s Olympic Stadium on April 28 (9 p.m.), it should be much more difficult. After the end of the sales phase this Friday, all applicants should first be informed about the success of their application. A total of 80,000 spectators fit into the London stadium.
West Ham threaten to be banned from the stadium
The club “explicitly” warned against buying tickets from third-party providers or online platforms. “Fans of Eintracht Frankfurt with tickets for areas other than those intended and allocated for Eintracht Frankfurt will not be allowed into the stadium or will be expelled from the stadium,” the club’s statement said.
This so-called “zero tolerance policy” was “expressly” pointed out by semi-final opponents West Ham, according to the Frankfurt side. The second leg in Frankfurt is on May 5th (9 p.m.).
