I hope F1 never returns to Portimao

by archysport

When the going gets tough, the champions start playing. Max Verstappen however in Portugal it showed some small cracks. The Dutchman in Portimao was not perfect, he made a couple of mistakes in the decisive moments and lost the confrontation with Lewis Hamilton who thus won his second win of the season. There was obviously a lot of merit from the Englishman of the Mercedes but the Dutchman has more than one remorse who knows he made a mistake and lived a weekend different from what he wanted and could have. And at the end of the race the young Max took it out on the track and said he hopes never to return to Portimao to race a Formula 1 GP.

Max’s mistakes in Portugal

After the pole he was angry, he took it out on Vettel who had, according to him, hindered him in the good lap and with the commissioners for the track limits. In the race he was immediately very good, he attacked Hamilton when he could, that is after the safety car was released he got rid of it with skill and nastiness. Max was unable to escape and after a few laps the counter overtaking arrived, facilitated, however, also by minor mistakes by Max who was overtaken on the eleventh lap. Then he tried to recover, but he understood as a pilot already sailed despite the only 23 years that the reigning champion would not have reached him.

Verstappen doesn’t like Portimao

Second place is not to be thrown away, from a championship point of view they are very heavy points and thinking about the title, the fastest lap achieved at the last second would have been very useful, but the race stewards canceled it because he had passed. once again the track limits, right decision considering the rules but questionable because the track limits are becoming a problem for the whole circus. Disappointed and embittered in the post-race interview he remained on his own, but then went down hard against the Algarve track while he exalted the one in Barcelona, where he will race next Sunday:

I didn’t like the whole weekend because of the grip levels around here. I hope we will not return to Portugal. Barcelona on the other hand is good. It is a good track for an F1 car and I think we will see better how the teams have progressed from the start of the season to today. Struggle with Hamilton? I clearly lacked some grip, some top speed, only I wasn’t able to put pressure on the Mercedes.
