Sometimes a football career can end sooner than you expect. This is what happened to former RC Lens midfielder Grégory Sertic.
Provided by the services of the UNFP, the players’ union, he was able to receive compensation following the premature end of his career, more under duress than on a choice on his part. He was indeed declared unfit for the practice of professional football. Victim in particular of a rupture of the cruciate ligaments during the last months of his career, he announced his retirement in November when his contract in Marseille came to an end last June.
