The first Italian medalist from the Winter Olympics, Giuliana Chenal-Minuzz, died at the age of 88. The information about the death of a skier who was the first woman in history to read the Olympic Oath in Cortina d’Ampezzo in 1956 was confirmed by representatives of the International Ski Federation.
Minuzz won the premier precious metal in the downhill at the Oslo Olympics in 1952. Eight years later in Squaw Valley, she added another bronze in the giant slalom to the collection.
